About Us

WordPatch.co.uk is a UK-based digital publication focused on writing, language, books, publishing, media, creativity, education, digital culture, productivity, tools, communication and online content trends. We are operated by Patchwork Digital Media Ltd., a private limited company registered in England and Wales (company number 16824793), with our registered office at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom.

Who we are and our mission

Our mission is straightforward: to provide helpful, reliable, people-first journalism about writing and publishing for British audiences. We believe that clear communication and a strong grasp of language matter — whether you are a professional writer, a student tackling an essay, an editor refining copy, a publisher navigating industry changes, or a reader simply curious about how words work. Everything we publish aims to be useful, accurate and accessible. We do not chase clicks or sensationalise; our priority is serving our readers with trustworthy information they can act on.

What we cover and for whom

We cover a broad range of interconnected subjects: writing advice and grammar explainers, book reviews and publishing industry updates, digital culture and media technology, productivity tools and software for creators, editorial workflows, and the ever-evolving landscape of online content. Our readers include writers, editors, students, educators, creators, marketers, publishing professionals and general readers who want clear, thoughtful coverage of words, media and digital communication. Whether you are looking for a practical guide to editing workflows, an analysis of AI writing tools, an author interview, or a deep dive into UK publishing trends, you will find it here.

Our content takes the form of guides, explainers, reviews, opinion pieces, interviews, resource articles, publishing updates, software and tool coverage, writing advice, book-related features and cultural analysis. We are designed for anyone who cares about the craft and commerce of words.

How we work

Every piece of editorial content published on WordPatch.co.uk is reviewed by a human editor before it goes live. This includes all articles, guides, reviews and features. For sensitive stories — those involving complaints, legal considerations, potential reputational harm, or complex factual claims — additional review is conducted by our Standards & Fact-Checking Lead, Thomas Ellery, before publication. We maintain rigorous editorial standards and a transparent fact-checking process. You can read more about our approach on our Editorial Policy page and our Fact-Checking Policy page.

We are transparent about our use of technology. Digital tools, including AI, may support research, editing, formatting, translation, metadata, headline options, summaries, transcription and content review. However, all published editorial content is reviewed by a human editor. We have a strict policy that AI must never fabricate quotes, sources, interviews, bylines, author experience or expert profiles. Our full AI & Automation Policy provides further detail.

Who is responsible

Our Editor-in-Chief is Harriet Langford. She oversees editorial policy, corrections, editorial standards, publication decisions, source review, reviews integrity and overall content quality. Day-to-day editorial planning, publishing schedules, newsroom workflow, article commissioning, headline review, contributor coordination and submissions management are led by our Managing Editor, Oliver Bennett. You can meet the full team on our Our Team page.
